Boys Soccer
Emerson
The Cavos were 0-2 last week with a 1-0 loss to Park Ridge in overtime on Oct. 6 and a 2-0 defeat by Hawthorne Christian on Oct. 8. Zak Azmi recorded 18 saves in the week.
Park Ridge
Park Ridge finished 2-1 for the week with a 1-0 victory over Emerson in overtime on Oct. 6, a 7-0 win over Saddle River Day on Oct. 11, and a 3-0 loss to Paramus on Oct. 12. Anthony McEldowney scored two goals against Saddle River Day. Brian Sloan recorded 14 saves in the three games.
Pascack Hills
Pascack Hills went 0-2 last week with a 4-1 loss to Old Tappan on Oct. 6 and a 4-1 loss to Ramsey on Oct. 10. Jason Winikoff recorded 17 saves against Old Tappan.
Pascack Valley
On Monday, Oct. 6, Pascack Valley defeated Wayne Hills 4-0. Joe Giovatto scored two goals. John Sagala recorded seven saves in the game.
St. Joseph Regional
The Green Knights finished 0-3 last week losing 2-0 to Montclair on Oct. 6, 2-0 to Ridgewood on Oct. 8, and 3-0 to Bergen Catholic on Oct. 10. Julian Nazario recorded 26 saves in the week.
Westwood
On Friday, Oct. 10, Dumont defeated Westwood 2-1. Miguel Quiros scored the lone goal for the Cardinals. Jon Seligman recorded 12 saves.
Girls Soccer
Emerson
Emerson finished 2-0 last week defeating Saddle River Day 1-0 on Oct. 7 and Garfield 3-1 on Oct. 10. Marissa Cerniglia scored three goals in the two games and Victoria Berg recorded five saves.
IHA
IHA remains undefeated with three more wins this week, beating Montclair 1-0 on Oct. 8 and Holy Angels 7-0 on Oct. 10 and 9-0 on Oct. 12. Tara Schwitter scored four goals in the week with a hat trick against Holy Angels on Oct. 10 and a single goal on Oct. 12. C.J. Graetzer scored a hat trick on Oct. 12.
Park Ridge
The Owls went 2-0 for the week with a 6-0 victory against Ridgefield on Oct. 6 and a 6-1 win against Dwight-Englewood on Oct. 10. Rebecca Skovira and Sarah Hespe scored three goals each this week.
Pascack Hills
Pascack Hills finished 1-1 for the week with a 2-0 win over Ramsey on Oct. 7 and a 2-0 loss to Hasbrouck Heights on Oct. 12. Lacey Habicht and Jen SantAnna scored one goal each against Ramsey. Meredith Schlussel recorded 10 saves this week.
Pascack Valley
Pascack Valley went 1-1 in the week with a 2-1 victory over River Dell on Oct. 12 and a 1-0 loss to Indian Hills on Oct. 7. Melissa McKeary and Pamela Vangelas scored one goal and one assist each against River Dell. Traci Corra recorded 21 saves this week.
Westwood
The Cardinals finished 2-0 for the week with a 3-0 win against Demarest on Oct. 6 and a 3-0 victory over Dumont on Oct. 11. Kaila Fasano scored five goals in the week and Stephanie Senkavich recorded 21 saves.
Football
Emerson
On Friday, Oct. 10, Emerson defeated Palisades Park with a 48-14 victory. In the first quarter, Tim Vogel scored on a 1-yard run with an extra point by Ryan Gibbard, followed by a safety when Kris Farley sacked Palisades Park quarterback in his own end zone, and then a 79-yard run by Jason Ferra with extra point by Gibbard to give the team a 16-0 lead going into the second. In the second quarter, a 45-yard run by Ferra with extra point by Gibbard, and 14-yard run by Vogel increased the lead to 29-0. Another 15-yard run by Ferra in the third quarter with extra point by Gibbard showed that the 14 points earned by Palisades Park in the third was not going to slow the Cavos’ scoring. The team scored again in the fourth quarter with another 49-yard run by Ferra and 16-yard run by Evan Brackenbury for a 48-14 final score.
St. Joseph Regional
On Friday, Oct. 10, the Green Knights dominated with a 42-0 win over Hackensack. In the first quarter, the Knights scored on a 50-yard pass from Gabe Hernandez to David Wood for a 6-0 lead going into the second. St. Joe’s showed no remorse for their opponents with a 29-yard pass from Hernandez to Wood, a 2-yard run by Kevin Adams with extra point by Wood, a safety, and 32-yard run by Adams and extra point by Wood for a 28-0 lead at the end of the first half. In the third quarter, a 38-yard run by Kamal Hogan and extra point by Sean Roe increased the Knight’s lead to 35-0. Laquan Middleton finished the game with an 8-yard run and extra point by Jason Checke for the final 42-0 victory.
Park Ridge
On Saturday, Oct. 11, Park Ridge was defeated by Hasbrouck Heights despite a solid first half. In the first quarter, Kevin Hwang’s 5-yard pass from Matt Misley and kick by Luis Cardoso, followed by Chris Entrup’s 29-yard pass from Misley and extra point by Cardoso gave the Owls a 14-7 lead. In the second quarter, Matt Moreno’s 39-yard pass from Misley left the Owls with a 20-14 lead going into the second half. In the third quarter, Hwang scored on an 8-yard pass from Misley, but it was not enough to beat the Aviators, who stacked up 43 points to win.
Pascack Hills
On Friday, Oct. 10, Pascack Hills suffered a 22-8 loss to Cresskill. In the second quarter, Ryan Hansen’s 2-yard run with a two-point conversion by Chet Palumbo gave the team the 8 points in the game.
Pascack Valley
On Saturday, Oct. 11, Pascack Valley triumphed over Bergenfield with a 35-0 win. In the first quarter, Tommy Corra scored on a 15-yard pass from Mike Loganchuk and extra point by Kyle Hartwick. Corey Kaiser followed with a 24-yard run and Hartwick’s extra point, and Kevin Rems’ 55-yard run and extra point by Hartwick. In the second quarter, Pascack Valley secured the win with a 15-yard pass and 25-yard pas from Loganchuck to Jimmy Buehler and extra points by Hartwick.
Westwood
On Saturday, Oct. 11, Westwood beat Rutherford 47-26. In the first quarter, Vincent Arsi scored on a 15-yard run with extra point by Robert Schneider. In the second quarter, Jason Park scored on a 66-yard run, followed by a 2-yard run and extra point by Schneider, and a 30-yard pass from Schneider to Ricky Moore and extra point by Schneider. With no scoring in the third quarter, the Cardinals came back in the fourth with Ryan Kuizema’s 8-yard pass and 4-yard pass from Schneider with extra points, followed by Arsi’s 10-yard run and extra point by Schneider for a final 47-26 victory.
Cross-Country
IHA
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, IHA finished with 19 points to Bergen Tech’s 44 points, with 29 points to Holy Angels’ 26 points, and with 27 points to Ridgewood’s 28 points. Sarah Pagano placed first with 18:27. Mary Kaye Duff placed ninth with 20:18. Julie Sinkovitz placed tenth with 20:20.
St. Joseph Regional
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, St. Joseph Regional finished with 19 points to Bloomfield’s 39, with 21 points to Eastside’s 40 points, and with 23 points to Paramus Catholic’s 35 points. Brian Bravo placed second with 17:21. Matthew O’Dowd placed sixth with 18:07. Andre Sadler placed eighth with 18:19. At the Brett Taylor Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 11, the team finished with a score of 171 points. Bravo placed sixteenth with 17:40.
Park Ridge
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, boys finished with 17 points to New Milford’s 42 points and with 16 points to Hawthorne Christian’s 43 points. Steven Sagano placed first with 17:50. Travis Cwirko placed second with 18:22. Chris Walker placed third with 18:24. Greg Hoffman placed sixth with 19:12. Chris Nunes placed seventh with 19:14. Girls finished with 39 points to New Milford’s 22 points. Melissa Origoni placed second with 21:22 and Molly McKendry placed fifth with 22:46. At the Brett Taylor Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 11, boys finished with a team score of 155 points. Sagona placed tenth with 17:42. Origoni placed second with 20:58 and McKendry placed tenth with 22:24 in Girls C group.
Pascack Hills
On Monday, Oct. 6, boys cross country finished with 27 points to Fair Lawn’s 28 points and with 21 points to Ramapo’s 34 points. Taylor Trumbetti placed first with 16:42. D.J. Puleo placed fourth with 17:21. Joe Sabatino placed sixth with 17:53. Girls finished with 15 points to Fair Lawn’s 50 points and with 36 points to Ramapo’s 20 points. Krista LaRezza placed third with 21:19.
Pascack Valley
On Monday, Oct. 6, Pascack Valley boys finished with 45 points to Indian Hills’ 16 points, and with 43 points to Wayne Hills’ 16. Girl finished with 47 points to Indian Hills’ 15 points and with 50 points to Wayne Hills’ 15 points. At the Brett Taylor Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 11, boys finished with a team score of 91 points in the Boys B group. Dan Pescatore placed nineteenth with 17:56 and Ricky Pelican placed twentieth with 18:01.
Westwood
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, boys finished with 32 points to Tenafly’s 25 points and with 27 points to Dumont’s 28 points. Louie Schiedler placed second with 16:56 and Zack Mower placed fifth with 17:50. Girls finished with 24 points to Tenafly’s 31 points and with 19 points to Dumont’s 41 points. Teresa Gagliostro placed first with 20:12. Ceili Brennan placed second with 20:20. Meghan Kocher placed seventh with 23:00.
Girls Volleyball
Emerson
Emerson finished 0-2 for the week with a 2-0 loss to Bogota on Oct. 7 and New Milford on Oct. 10. Against New Milford, Monica Lee recorded nine assists, Kerry Meisten recorded five digs, and Laura Wall recorded six kills.
IHA
The Blue Eagles increased their undefeated record to 13-0 with three more wins for the week including a 2-0 victory over Barringer on Oct. 6, 2-0 defeat over Montclair on Oct. 7, and a 2-0 win against Holy Angels on Oct. 9. Kristin Flatekval recorded 57 assists and Ariel Scott recorded 31 kills for the week.
Park Ridge
The Owls finished 2-0 for the week with a 2-0 victory over Leonia on Oct. 8 and Palisades Park on Oct. 10. Samantha Sacco recorded 19 digs in the week.
Pascack Hills
Pascack Hills went 0-2 for the week with a 2-1 loss to Old Tappan on Oct. 7 and 2-1 defeat by Ramsey on Oct. 11. Jessica Lomia recorded 24 digs and 26 assists and Corinne Palmer recorded 26 kills this week.
Pascack Valley
Pascack Valley finished 2-0 for the week with 2-0 wins against Wayne Hills on Oct. 7 and Indian Hills on Oct. 10. Alyssa Hoogendorn recorded 19 kills and six digs this week.
Westwood
The Cardinals were 1-1 for the week with a 2-0 win against Dwight-Englewood on Oct. 10 and a 2-0 loss to Dumont on Oct. 6. Haley Dukes recorded nine kills against Dumont.
Girls Tennis
Emerson
The tennis team finished 1-1 this week with a 4-2 win over Becton on Oct. 6 and a 4-1 loss to New Milford on Oct. 7. Daniela Glavan and Misha Patel won their matches in singles. Eunice Yo and Gladys Wu, Salmiyeh Khan and Anne-Marie Raphail, and Erin Abrams and Raphail won their matches in doubles.
IHA
IHA went 4-0 last week to improve to 9-0 on the year. The Blue Eagles defeated Barringer 5-0 on Oct. 6, Montclair 5-0 on Oct. 8, Mt. St. Dominic 5-0 on Oct. 9, and Holy Angels 4-1 on Oct. 10. Dana Ferrari recorded four wins for the week while Carly Piccinich, Ally Landers, Kaitlin Pfisterer, Lia Barber, and Jessica Lage each won three and Lauren Iannelli two. Hayley Downing, Nicole Chimolek, Maggie Von Seekamm, Anny Lee Rice, and Alex Ziarko each had one win during the week.
At the state singles, Pfisterer defeated her opponents in the first and second rounds before being beat in the third round and Landers moved through the first, second, and third rounds before being defeated in the fourth round.
Park Ridge
On Friday, Oct. 10, Park Ridge defeated Paramus Catholic 3-2. Lauren Mazzei defeated her opponent 7-6 (6-2) and Rachel Bartz defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-1. Stephanie Baumann and Priscilla Kim defeated their opponents 7-5, 2-6, 7-5.
Pascack Hills
Pascack Hills finished 3-0 last week with a 5-0 win against Fair Lawn on Oct. 6, 5-0 victory over Pascack Valley on Oct. 7, and 5-0 win against Westwood on Oct. 10. Gabby Drucker, Sarah Spellman, Julie Griggs, and Dani Stern recorded three wins each for the week, while Brittany Palish, Harli Thau, and Carly Hirschberg won two, and Stephanie Mactas, Sam Wolfin, and Michelle Feldman each had one win during the week.
Pascack Valley
Pascack Valley finished 0-2 for the week with a 5-0 loss to Pascack Hills on Oct. 7 and a 3-2 loss to Old Tappan on Oct. 10. Against Old Tappan, Carly Meyerowitz defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-3 and Marissa Marano and Alex Pogosky defeated their opponents 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
Westwood
Westwood went 0-2 for the week with a 4-1 loss to Mahwah on Oct. 6 and a 5-0 loss to Pascack Hills on Oct. 10. Against Mahwah, Jackie Ciccolella and Amanda Yasoshima defeated their opponents 6-4, 6-4.

The Cardinals finished 0-1-2 for the week with a scoreless tie against Northern Highlands on Oct. 11, a 1-0 loss to Old Tappan on Oct. 7, and a 4-0 loss to Ramsey on Oct. 12. Elizabeth Figureido recorded 29 saves this week.
Gymnastics
Pascack Valley
On Friday, Oct. 10, Pascack Valley finished with 101.15 to Clifton with 78.55. Natali Ruzich placed first on the vault with 8.5 and first on the balance beam with 9.05. Alexandria Kolodko placed first in the floor routine with 8.35. Audrey Donahue placed first on the uneven bars with 9.0.
