Sprint requests antenna installation

The Hillsdale Mayor and Council discussed a request on Tuesday Nov. 20 by Sprint Spectrum to install new antennas and cable lines in the town.
The council held off making a decision on the request until hearing more details from a representative from Sprint. Mayor Dennis Deutsch asked Borough Administrator Harold Karns to invite a Sprint representative to attend the council’s next meeting on Dec. 4 and answer any questions the council might have at that time.
The mayor also asked that the Sprint representative bring a schematic of the company’s plans. The nine new antennas Sprint is planning to install would replace the six currently on top of the tower located behind the firehouse on Hillsdale Avenue.
Councilman Max Arnowitz stated his main concern is the location of the antennas on the same tower as the police and fire communications. “We just need to make sure they don’t interfere,” he said.
