Council to fill open seat March 11
(by Kevin Glynn - March 12, 2008)
The Hillsdale Mayor and Council announced at its last meeting that the seat left open with the recent passing of Councilman William Kirk would be filled at its next meeting, Tuesday, March 11.
The Republic County Committee nominated Ralph Dalo, Marie Hanlon, and James Moldow to fill the seat until the next election, Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The council will decide between the three candidates and also name a replacement for Kirk’s other assignments, which include the Planning Board.
Voters will determine who will serve on the council for the remaining two years at the next general election, and that person will be sworn in immediately following the election.
Kirk passed away on Friday, Feb. 15 from a cardiac episode. He was 64.
Mayor John Sapanara called Kirk a “dedicated family man, concerned citizen, and passionate public official.”
