Marie Hanlon fills unexpired seat

The Hillsdale Mayor and Council selected Marie Hanlon on Tuesday, March 11, to fill the seat that was left open after the recent passing of Councilman William Kirk.
Hanlon will serve until the next election, Tuesday, Nov. 4, when voters determine who will serve on the council for the remaining two years left in the term. That person will be sworn in immediately following the election.
The council also appointed Michael Giancarlo to serve as a Class II Planning Board member, an appointment that was also held by Kirk.
Kirk passed away on Friday, Feb. 15 from a cardiac episode. He was 64.
Mayor John Sapanara called Kirk a “dedicated family man, concerned citizen, and passionate public official.”
