Buckman, Richmond honored

High School boys basketball coach Pete Crandall, at left, led the team to its first first Bergen County Scholastic League-Olympic Division title in five years. Two of the team’s players, Vince Richmond and Jesse Buckman, were among many athletes who were recognized for their contributions to their respective programs during a awards ceremony held recently at the school.
Richmond now holds the school record for most career points scored rebounds. Buckman joined the ‘1,000-Point Club’ finishing his career with a total of 1,007.

The
Park Ridge
High School boys basketball team was among teams and individuals honored at a recent awards ceremony held at the school.
Athletic Director Chris Brown said, “The Park Ridge boys basketball program had a terrific winter season. They had a 19-7 record and made appearances in both the
Bergen
County and state tournaments.” The team’s performance in the county tournament was especially significant. “The team claimed its first Bergen County Scholastic League – Olympic Division title in five years,” Brown said.

Among the individuals honored at the ceremony were seniors Jesse Buckman and Vince Richmond. Both received All-BCSL honors – first team, and Dan Mohle, honorable mention. Buckman also received second team All-County honors and
Richmond , first team All-County.
Brown said, “Jesse Buckman became the tenth boy and the 16th overall player to make the ‘1,000 Point Club’ in career scoring. He finished with 1,007 points.”
His teammate, Vince Richmond, hit the 1,000-point mark last year and by the close of the season had garnered additional honors. Brown said, “He became both the all-time leading scorer and rebounder with 1,734 points and 1,364 rebounds.”
Richmond also appeared in the NJSIAA North-South All-Star Game in
Toms
River and the Bergen County All-Star Game held on March 22 at
Fairleigh
Dickinson
University ’s
Rothman
Center in
Hackensack.
