Superintendent and principal resign

As the 2007-2008 school year winds to a close, students, parents, faculty and staff prepare to say goodbye to two longtime staples in the Montvale school system. On Monday, April 14, the Montvale Board of Education (BOE) accepted the resignations of Superintendent Dr. Susan King and Fieldstone Elementary School Principal Paul Semendinger, both effective this July.
Semendinger, Fieldstone’s principal for more than nine years, will continue to serve as a principal at Ridgewood’s Hawes Elementary School. He will be replaced by Mark Maire, who is currently Fieldstone’s assistant principal.
King, who has been superintendent of Montvale’s public schools for the past 13 years, will also continue to serve in her current position, though somewhat further away than Semendinger; she has accepted a four-year contract with the Rockport, Mass. School System.
Discussions to replace King in the interim and for the long term will be discussed when the Montvale BOE reconvenes for its reorganization meeting on April 28.
