Cowgirls still finding their rhythm

(by Erin Patricia Griffiths - April 23, 2008)

The Pascack Hills Softball Team walked away from Memorial Field on Friday, April 18 with a scoreless performance against Northern Valley Demarest.

Despite the 5-0 loss, the players were solid defensively and several of the girls executed excellent, sound plays on the field. One key player was shortstop Tiffany Fischer, who made two diving stops in the game.

Another vital player on the Cowgirls team, third baseman Julie Broderick, demonstrated great reaction in getting the ball to first consistently. Brittney Palish, a junior, had a strong game following the previous one in which she hit a milestone, recording her 100th career hit in the game against Wayne Hills , and was one for three in the match against Demarest.

The Cowgirls first-year coach Erin Mills was optimistic even with the loss saying, “Next game, I want to see more aggression at the plate, more focus, better pitch selection, and if we can keep staying solid defensively, the wins will start coming.”

With the loss of nine seniors from the previous season, this team is still trying to find its rhythm as a new unit and compete at the level that will bring them the runs they need to win.

Pascack Hills is now 2-8 on the year.
