Westvale Park may be linked to Pascack Brook County Park

Westvale Park may eventually be linked to the adjacent Pascack Brook County Park.
Mayor John Birkner reported he has been in contact with a Bergen County executive about Westvale Park’s progress and the two recently discussed connecting the two parks through a paved walking path. The path connecting the parks would be an extension of the widened pathway completed last year at Westvale. The county would fund the project entirely, including all engineering, paving on Westwood property, and attaining the necessary Department of Environmental Protection approvals.
Birkner said that while the project has been discussed for several years, “it is time to bring this to fruition and move forward.” He called it a “great project” that would “provide access from one part of town to another through a greenway” and will “allow people to utilize a larger area of the park.” Birkner added that the paved road would allow police and emergency services to patrol an area that is currently inaccessible to vehicular traffic.
