Borough plans to complete Summit Road improvements in 2009

At its April 29 meeting, the Montvale Mayor and Council authorized Borough Engineer Andrew Hipolit of Maser Consulting to apply for a state grant to fund remaining repairs to Summit Avenue in 2009.
If awarded, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) grant would cover Summit Avenue from Terkuile Road to Spring Valley Road next year.
A portion of Summit Avenue, from Spring Valley Road north to the
New York
State border, is included in the 2008 road improvement program. This year’s repairs, estimated to cost $237,450, will be funded using a previously awarded NJDOT grant.
Given this year’s project, Hipolit said he was confident that the NJDOT would fund the remaining improvements to the western section of Summit Avenue in 2009.
“The [NJDOT] likes projects that are complete,” Hipolit told the governing body. “You have a good chance.”
