Engineer to prepare plans for Summit Avenue improvements

On Tuesday, June 10, the Montvale Council unanimously awarded a professional service contract to the borough’s engineer, Maser Consulting, authorizing the firm to prepare construction plans for Summit Avenue roadway improvements.
Summit Avenue is expected to be repaired in two stages. One portion of the road, from Spring Valley Road north to the New York State border, is included in the 2008 road improvement program and is estimated to cost $237,450. The borough will use a $150,000 New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Local Aid Grant to offset costs.
Maser Consulting was authorized last Tuesday to provide design services for this portion at a cost not to exceed $17,500.
The second portion, from Terkuile Road to Spring Valley Road, would be completed in 2009 if the borough obtains a second NJDOT grant.
