Boil water advisory issued, lifted in Montvale last week

Residents of western Montvale were advised to boil their drinking water last week following a late-night water main break on Tuesday.
United Water issued the advisory to its customers north of Grand Avenue and west of the Garden State Parkway shortly after the 11 p.m. water break on Tuesday, June 17. The utility urged customers to boil water before drinking, cooking, or consuming it in any other way as crews worked to repair the water main.
“Typically, we’re out there with emergency crews, which we were, and they worked right through the night,” said United Water spokesman Richard Henning, who said the cause of the water main break is not known.
The main was repaired Wednesday morning, and the boil advisory was lifted on Friday, June 20 after water samples were tested and deemed safe by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
