Scholarship winners announced

Among the scholarships awarded at Senior Awards Night for the Westwood Regional High School Class of 2008 were two sponsored by the GFWC/NJSFWC The Contemporary Woman’s Club of Washington Township. Each received a $1,000 scholarship.
Kristen Fanale will attend Lehigh University and plans to major in engineering. Her academic record of excellence, volunteer service, her participation in Girl Scouts, tutoring, and cheerleading and dancing are among her many accomplishments.
Adam Lewites will attend the University of Georgia this fall and plans to major in finance and/or sports management. His many accomplishments include academic excellence, volunteer services, participation in sports and the high school’s student council. The club advises that he is an enthusiastic, well-rounded student.
Each was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
In addition, the club recognized several members of the Westwood High School Class of 2008 for excellence in a number of disciplines.
The honorees, each of whom were awarded a savings bond, were:
Jared Weiss – Art
Emily Diego – Drama
Jennifer Senkevich – Education
Caitlynn Carroll – Ecology
Nicole Verost – Family & Consumer Sciences
Alexander Pomerantz – Literature
Jesse Natalie – World Languages
Each year, the club offers scholarships to students who reside in the township, regardless of the high school they attend. Applicants are considered based on scholastic achievement, community involvement and financial need.
